Assisted by the redoubtable Miss Pruitt, prim and proper academician and expert in precious gems, and followed at a discreet distance by two mysterious foreigners in dark clothes, Sloan and Hardesty pursue Cavendish to San Antonio where hunter and hunted, predator and prey clash in the final confrontation.
