Sean Bourke and his tracker dog Benny are on the frontline of the war against poaching in South Africa when their enemies introduce a deadly new weapon to the battlefield—IEDs, improvised explosive devices. Sean and Benny encountered more than their fair share of booby trap bombs when they served in Afghanistan, along with Sean’s best friend Craig Hoddy. Sean and Craig, together with rookie handler Tumi Mabassa and her dog Shikhar, must face this new threat head-on while trying to protect Africa’s endangered rhinos. Chinese gangster David Li has employed a former terrorist bomb maker to defeat the highly effective anti-poaching dogs and their human partners, and Li also has his sights set on a new prize—lions. Sean’s boss and ex-wife Christine Glover has a pride of lions rescued from a hunting farm and Li wants the big cats for their bones, which are prized in traditional Asian medicine. Sean’s world is imploding and exploding as Christine falls for Craig, more bombs take their toll, and a secret addiction threatens to bring Sean undone. Can Sean and Benny get back on track?
