Slave or partner? Bond or shackles? Dascha swore that she would never become a slave to a witch, used for energy and reduced to the role of an animated battery. Zhanna never thought that she would have a familiar, since none of the Russian witches seemed to have them. Now Dascha has found her witch and Zhanna has found her familiar. It would be better if either one of them knew what they were doing, but they trust in each other. When Dascha has the chance to get some training, something that no familiar that either of them knows has gotten, she reluctantly leaves her beloved witch for a few days. The two Persian cats are joined in their journey by a pair of Russian Mercenaries that also are being torn apart by thoughts of comrades who were left behind. They are all determined to make one last attempt to rescue as many as they can from the predations of the Blood Mages, but they must make this journey on their own. Their friends promise to help, even if they are unable to go themselves. After all, anything that helps would be good, right? Or is it possible to have too much help? When determination and sacrifice joins hands with love and hope, whatever results can only be spectacular!
TT and Jack were haunted. Too many of their friends and allies had failed to escape from the burgeoning Blood Mage force that was destroying their world. Call it survivor guilt or a feeling of failure, even as the two Familiars began to rebuild a comfortable life, their dreams and thoughts were still burdened by those they left behind. Finally, the sense of frustration and helplessness became too much to bear, and the two feline Familiars decided that they would make one last attempt to bring loved ones across the arduous journey to Tellus. Little did they know that another Seer’s Vision was amassing an Exodus, just waiting for leaders and guides. The desperate refugee groups were merging and becoming more challenging to conceal, but faith in the Seer’s guidance and the certainty that they must leave or die provided the incentive for the refugees’ blind faith. When the two sides connect, there is very little time left. Forced to fight as they move through the catacombs and tunnels, TT and Jack have to dig deep to bring everyone home.
