Their hopes for a quiet summer of writing are dashed the first day when a neighbor lady tearfully shares the mysterious circumstances surrounding her husband's death from a fall off a mountain trail. They must also deal with the woman's son, a big fan of Tony's western novels, a young lady who seeks their assistance in launching her singing career, an unusual summer home that is a tourist attraction, and their agent, who is constantly working a new deal. All of this, combined with long-range parenting of adult children who have some surprising news, guarantee the Shadowbrooks another hectic, humorous, and sometimes hazardous summer.
