There are no Mob guys left in Las Vegas,right?... Jimmy Hoffa is buried under Giants Stadium, right?…Can a rapist really pick the worst possible victim?...what does a condemned killer order for his last meal?...These are the premise for four of the thirteen short stories in SNITCH, a collection of stories written by a retired Homicide Detective. SNITCH is culled from a world most will people never visit. It’s a cruel world where fate can punish the innocent as well as the guilty, and where arrogance, greed and stupidity invite retribution. These are tales of deceit and intrigue, betrayal and revenge, violence and death, seen through the eyes of the tough guys and the pretenders, the victims and the predators, and especially, the police. The cops, who patrol and investigate in these stories, operate in a shadowy world that’s seldom black and white, never easily defined, and frequently awash in moral ambiguity that sometimes makes the hunter seem little different from the hunted. SNITCH is violent and hard-edged. From the genesis and thought patterns of a killer, the demeanor and dialogue of the cops and the inner-department jostling and politics, this is a visit to that shadow world. But, SNITCH is just a work of fiction, nothing more, tales told around the campfire. As Tallyrand said, “…Je ne blame, ni n’approve: je raconte," – “…I blame not, I approve not: I merely tell a tale…” Michael Robb served 22 years with the Illinois State Police, for 16 of those years he was a Violent Crimes Investigator and later, the Commander of a Major Case Homicide Unit.
