A group intent on raising support for secession is making a lot of noise, but while islanders are busy taking sides, Abby set out to find the truth. As she digs through centuries of murky historical records, she uncovers vague treaties and unclear accounts that only lead to more questions. And when several elderly residents, including George and Ellen Stanton, are approached about selling their homes, Abby begins to suspect that there is more than patriotism on the line. Meanwhile, Abby's project to provide homes for area bluebirds meets with a few snags, and it soon becomes clear that one family's secrets could lead to ruin for everyone.
