From the moment I was born, I belonged to the night. The moon has been and will forever be my sun. I follow its path through the black heavens above Venice like a lemming with wings, helplessly drawn to its peculiar orbit, made inconsistent by the Fae more than a century ago when our world was joined to theirs to save us both. It's not that the moon fails to revolve around the Earth as it should, to flood the city's streets and canals at extreme high tide, or to drain the water out again at low, only that on rare nights, without any warning, la Luna suddenly reverses herself and travels backward through the sky. Nothing good ever happens on those nights. This was one of them. --- Both sides want her. Neither can have her. On the eve of war between fae and humans, Lunari, a human with fae powers, is on the run, marked for death. Growing darkness infects the once romantic city of Venice in Ashia Hollow. Lunari, a human unaware she possesses a rare fae ability which threatens both sides, has been sentenced for execution without having committed a crime. Though she may not have anyone she can turn to for help, Lunari still doesn't trust sexy and brutal Aril, the dark fae hunter with a suspicious past and mysterious interest in protecting her. Her gift for using dreams to distort and manipulate reality may make her a sought-after commodity to some factions, but if the prophecies are to be believed, she is also destined to unwittingly bring apocalypse to the hollow.
