There Was Light captures different voices. A uniform experience at Berkeley, of course, does not exist. A common theme, however runs through the essays: It is the value of the University community - the pursuit of knowledge that binds us together. This notion of free inquiry and disciplined inquiry is the core value of a community that we call a university.
