These were first published in Marzipan & Kisses, the original Dunnett letterzine, and in Whispering Gallery. In these articles, Dorothy Dunnett reflects on what has inspired and influenced her. She talks about the background to the books, the mechanics of writing a series and her endeavours - always successful - to stay one step ahead of her readers! Her humour and charm are evident throughout. The period of time encompassed by these articles begins with the publication of Scales of Gold and covers the subsequent four novels. Alongside these are Dunnett's reflections on The Lymond Chronicles, on King Hereafter and the Johnson Johnson mysteries. It includes 'The Final Canon', the complete text of the deeply moving talk Dorothy Dunnett gave at the Edinburgh and Philadelphia gatherings in 2000.
