Ok, growing up in Flint Michigan probably sucked in the 90’s and the 2000's but it really sucks now. No, seriously, it does. Late in 2004 something went wrong. Way wrong. Somebody probably dropped a beaker in a secret government lab, or maybe there have always been zombies and vampires. Who knows? Since 2004 things got really…. Weird. The TV and radio worked for a couple of weeks reporting first the disappearance of thousands and thousands of people, then the appearance of zombies walking openly during the daylight, it was much later when we figured the vampires were working behind the scenes. The first short story in a series about 13 year old Tres and his friends as they struggle to survive and get some measure of payback. Written for my kids. 16,930 words. Sparse mild language.
